London based Somalis have shocked the world after staging a demonstration criticizing Kenyan president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.
Even though it was not clear what formed the demonstrations, it was evident from their chants that they were fed up with the Kenyan president to a point of referring to him as a criminal who must be taken back to Hague.
“Uhuru Kenyatta is a criminal. Uhuru Kenyatta is a born criminal. Uhuru to Hague. Shame on you. Shame on you Uhuru Kenyatta.” They chanted.
While at it, the visibly angry demonstrators held placards with all kinds of writings targeted at president Kenyatta. For instance, there are those placards which were christened: “Kenyan army have committed war crimes in Somalia.”
“Justice for El-Adde victims.” Read other placards.
The demos which mostly consisted of women insisted that the Kenyan president must be taken to the Hague for women and children in Somalia to get justice. However, the demonstrators were too general and it was not clear what specific instance made them refer to the Kenyan head of state as a criminal.
It seems the presence of Kenya Defence Forces in Somalia is causing more harm than good if the sentiments of the Somali London based demonstrators is anything to go by.
In the meantime, the court on Wednesday barred the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) from assigning duties to the 34 judges that were recently appointed by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The court ruled that the 34 judges should not be given roles until the case filed by a Nakuru doctor is determined.
The petitioner, Dr. Magare Gikenyi who is a general surgeon dealing with trauma consultancy at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital went to court in a bid to compel the head of state to appoint the other 6 judges he left out.
According to the petitioner, the actions of president Uhuru Kenyatta ought to be quashed since they contravened the law of the land.
