Protests In Minneapolis Continue Thursday Night After George Floyd’s death.

USA ,protests in Minneapolis continued on Thursday night as residents set Police Departments 3rs Precinct on fire. City asks residents to move to safe areas due to potential gas leak.

Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder said that all staff members were evacuated from the building at around 10 p.m. John Elder said protesters forced their way into the building and set it on fire.

From the reports seen by our team, the City of Minneapolis heard an unconfirmed report that gas lines to the 3rd Precinct have been destroyed among other explosives within the building.

When the building explodes, residents within the area are asked to retreat to avoid potential danger.

Reports from St. Paul Police Department, over 70 businesses have been damaged or looted or both. However, as of the time of reporting, no injuries from the riots have been reported.

From the video seen by SONKONEWS, protesters were seen blocking traffic along Interstate 35W near 3rd street downtown Minneapolis. Reports indicate that a large fire was started across the street from Target On University Avenue in St. Paul at around 9 P.M

To mitigate the protests, over 500 National Guard soldiers were activated and a state of emergency in the county was activated.

Mayor Jacob Frey said he is collaborating with the Minneapolis Fire Department to respond to the increasing protests in the area.

“We are working with Minneapolis Fire to get the resources and respond to a beloved neighborhood in our city. We all need to work together to ensure the safety of our friends, family, and Minneapolis residents. And right now working together means clearing the area,” Major Jacob Frey wrote on his Twitter.

The protects began a few days after an African American- George Floyd who yelled “I cannot breathe” as a white police officer pinned him down with his knee died. The incident that was captured on a video has drawn outrage from the community members as they demand justice for the deceased and his family.
