Caroline Kangogo’s burial is scheduled for Saturday at her parents’ farm in Anin, Keiyo North Sub-county, but police have other ideas.
Kangogo’s family has revealed the uncertainty surrounding their daughter’s burial which has been caused by detectives.
The family told the media that DCI sleuths have brought confusion on Kangogo’s burial because they have not yet visited the home as part of their investigation into the alleged suicide.
Nation reported that Kangogo’s father Barnabas Kibor confirmed that they had not received any report from DCI despite police giving them permission to bury their kin.
What is puzzling the family is the fact that police have given them the green light to proceed with burial arrangements despite the lingering questions surrounding Kangogo’s death.
Autopsy result is yet to be availed to the family, even though Kangogo’s father had earlier expressed confidence his daughter committed suicide.
Police also appear not to be interested in taking part in Kangogo’s burial. Elgeyo Marakwet County police commander Patrick Lumumba said that they were waiting for a report from Nairobi whether the National Police Service would be involved in her burial ceremony.
As Kangogo’s family is planning her burial, it has becomes clear the National Police Service will not honor her with any kind of police send-off ceremony.
Dead police officers who have been a disgrace to the service have in the recent past buried without any police involvement.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i bodyguard who shot his wife dead before turning gun on himself was buried in April without being accorded police honors.
The late Hudson Wakise, who was a General Service Unit (GSU) officer seconded to Matiangi’s security detail, was quietly buried at his home in Mwatate, Taita Taveta county without any police involvement in the burial.
Caroline Kangogo was a thorn in the National Police Service and as such police are obviously giving her burial a wide berth.
Police apparent lack of concern in Kangogo’s burial arrangement is evidence enough the rogue police officer will be buried without the traditional police send-off with 21-gun salute which is usually accorded to dead officers.
