Siaya senator James Orengo on Friday at a Migori function said that Raila Odinga has no worthy competitor for the 2022 general elections.
According to James Orengo, the only person who was best suited to succeed the incumbent president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta was none other than the opposition leader.
The Siaya senator further accused former NASA principals of betraying and rejecting Raila during the controversial 2017 Uhuru park swearing in ceremony.
“Those forming other coalitions should tell us where they were when Raila was taking the oath as people’s president,” said Orengo.
With regards to the alliances being formed as 2022 approaches, the Senate minority leader reiterated that they will not derail Raila’s State House journey for top seat since such alliances did not scare him.
As a result, James Orengo urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to work closely with Raila Odinga so that they could chat about the succession plan.
The Siaya senator made these sentiments after attending the burial of Tobias Oloo, the former chair of Nyatike Luo Council of Elders chair at Got Kachola village.
While there, Orengo is reported to have made a direct attack at the incumbent Migori governor Okoth Obado by claiming that they are just wasting time.
In an attack directed at the Migori boss, Orengo said those defecting from ODM to join or form other parties were wasting their time. He further termed the ilks of Obado and others as agenda less people whose main aim was to divide the community “Anyone forming his own party in Nyanza is someone who is trying to divide the Luo nation and has no meaningful agenda for the people,” he said.
On the Building Bridges Initiative, Orengo insisted Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii and Busia counties deserved to be given additional constituencies as per the ‘original’ BBI report.
