Veteran Kenyan journalist Larry Madowo has bagged another crazy promotion with the CNN just a few weeks after he was made the CNN’s Nairobi correspondent.
Credible sources accessed by Sonko News reveal that Larry Madowo has been promoted to the position of CNN international correspondent.
Larry Madowo joined CNN in May this year to return home and get an opportunity to tell more African stories according to him.
The seasonal journalist had served as the BBC’s North America Correspondent in Washington prior to working for CNN.
When announcing his then job at CNN, Madowo expressed his joy to be working from home again.
As reported by the Star, Madowo said he enjoyed reporting from the US and around the world, but it’s a real privilege to return to covering Africa at such a critical time in Kenya and around the continent.”
“I have long admired CNN International’s award-winning coverage, and I’m honoured to be joining such a talented team. I look forward to sharing the full spectrum of life in one of the most dynamic parts of the world with CNN’s global audiences,” he said
This promotion implies that Larry Madowo will now cover news in the whole of East Africa as opposed to just Nairobi Kenya.
Mr. Madowo left BBC sometime in May after he was poached by CNN through an announcement that was made by Deborah Rayner, Senior Vice President of International Newsgathering and Managing Editor, Europe, Middle East and Africa, for CNN International.
Prior to joining the BBC, Larry Madowo was a News anchor at NTV where he grew his career and ran a popular show called the Trend.
The veteran journalist started his career in his early 20s with the Kenya Television Network (KTN).
