Former Kakamega senator Doctor Boni Khalwale took to his social media handle to celebrate what he termed as a heroes’ reception after him together with the Kapseret member of parliament Oscar Sudi were carried on shoulders across the village.
“Hon Oscar Sudi got a taste of our version of heroes’ reception when we were carried shoulder high on arrival at our rally in Ebutaliko village in Koyonzo ward Matungu” Wrote Khalwale.
Mr. Khalwale was accompanied by Oscar Sudi to drum up support for the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) candidate Alex Lanya in the looming by-election scheduled for 4th of March.
Mr. Alex Lanya who is Ruto’s Matungu United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate recently got a boost after one of the independent candidates Mr Anzelimo Kongoti eyeing the Matungu parliamentary by-election bowed out in his favor.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had cleared Mr Anzelimo Kongoti to contest as an independent aspirant but stepped down to back Alex Lanya after mounting a serious campaign for one month.
The Matungu parliamentary seat became vacant following the passing on of immediate former MP Justus Murunga who died last year on 14th of November after being diagnosed with covid-19 related symptoms.
