Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has tested positive for Covid 19 barely a week after getting vaccinated.
According to him, he is the only one who had contracted the virus in his family as they all underwent the test.
“As a family, we all had COVID tests done yesterday, whose results I have just received. Everybody else is negative except me. I am proceeding on total and complete isolation for the next two weeks,” Kidero said.
Kidero had been vaccinated on Monday march 29 before testing positive on Wednesday April 6.
The former county head has now been put in self isolation for the next two weeks as he fight to recover from the deadly virus.
Kidero went on to urge all members of his political team that he had interacted with to get tested.
“I advise our team members, whom I’ve been in contact with to go and have themselves tested for COVID-19 immediately. It’s my appeal to Kenyans to continue observing the ministry of health protocols on COVID,” Kidero said.
On March 11, the former governor had tested negative for Covid after Former Prime minster Raila Odinga had been hospitalized.
At this time Kidero had to be tested as he was among the people who had mingle with Raila immediately before he tested positive for the virus.
Following the new development, Kidero’s supporters have flooded his social media page with encouragement messages as they pray for his timely recovery.
A section, however, questioned the effectiveness of the vaccine, given the rising cases of people testing positive even after taking the jab.
Meru Governor Kiraitu murungi is among the Kenyans who have tested positive for the virus after being Vacinated.
Murungi, 69, received the jab on March 10 and later tested positive on March 19 and like Kidero he was send to self isolate at home.
