Footballer Jerome Boateng is facing new criminal investigation weeks after his ex girlfriend Kasia Lenhardt brutally killed herself.
The police investigation into Boateng has been reopened by officials in Berlin following the Lenhardt’s brutal death.
The Bayern Munich defender is being investigated over an incident in October 2019 when he allegedly assaulted Lenhardt.
Boateng and Lenhardt reportedly had a violent relationship before they went their separate ways early this year.
The German defender is now being investigated once more over an incident that occurred in October 2019 regarding Lenhardt’s torn earlobe.
The initial investigations into the alleged assault were suspended in June 2020, but now police have reopened the investigation after the emergence of “new information”.

“The preliminary investigation was initially suspended on June 19, 2020 in accordance with Section 154 I StPO with regard to the already accused proceedings. On the one hand because the outcome of the already accused proceedings was to be awaited, and on the other hand because the injured party Kasia L. had initially made a decision not to provide any more incriminating information.
“The proceedings were resumed on February 10th, 2021, because we received new information in the course of the investigation into the death in Berlin, which could provide indications of a possible continuation of the proceedings. The investigation has not yet been completed. We cannot comment on the investigations carried out by the Berlin police on behalf of the Berlin public prosecutor’s office,” read a statement from German prosecutors.
Boateng’s model girlfriend killed herself on her son’s sixth birthday just a week after her relationship with the German footballer hit rock bottom.
The 25-year-old Polish-born model was found dead at a luxury apartment thought to belong to Boateng in Berlin’s upmarket Charlottenborg are.
Police who found Lenhardt’s lifeless body have ruled out any foul play, the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Boateng was away competing in the Club World Cup in Qatar with Bayern Munich at the time of his ex girlfriend’s death.
