Police in Hadado,Wajir county have intercepted over 460kgs of bhang.The transporters and the vehicle were said to be from the neighbouring borders of Marsabit and Ethiopia.
The two suspects,the driver and his counterpart had concealed the lorry carrying the 93 bales of bhang with branded Bamburi Cement covers in order to cross the borders and escape the wrath of the police.
According to Wajir county Commissioner Jacob Norengo,the narcotics stand at a street value of Ksh.46M. He also said the local and national security teams are working tirelessly with the locals to clear any drug related crimes.
“We have intercepted and arrested drug traffickers in the past and we shall continue to arrest them until we win this war” said the commissioner who was evaluating the scene with the area chief.The commissioner also mentioned how his team is not resting even on holidays and will ensure contraband goods and illegal drugs will properly be seized across the boarders.
The two suspects and in custody and waiting to be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
