Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof.George Magoha has announced that the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results are scheduled to be released in a fortnight.
The exams were done two weeks ago in March for the first time ever due to the change in school calendar. This was as a result of the indefinite closing and a long break to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus among children and teachers. However the exams registered a considerably fair number of pupils countrywide.
CS Magoha says that the papers are being marked with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols and will be done soon.Speaking in Kisumu on Tuesday,he indicated that everything is going as scheduled.
“They have completed marking of multiple choice questions and have started marking Insha and Composition. In the next two weeks, the results should be out. We’re on track and will let you know” Magoha said.
The Professor mentioned that a number of five to ten teachers have been arrested for engaging in exam misconduct. Moreover he cautioned teachers and students from being deceived by fake KCSE papers circulating in different WhatsApp groups.
He also noted the unfortunate occurrence of teachers and education officials “playing” with the papers from the common storage containers. He advised invigilators to be extra careful.
The Professor then went on to monitor ongoing exams at various centres.
