The 26 year old rapper was in October 2016 sentenced to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy and possession in connection.

Prosecutors cited Shmurda’s leading role in GS9 gang – an offshoot of the Crips, in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, to persuade the judge to convict him.

The young rapper was denied parole in September 2020, in part because of disciplinary actions taken against him while in prison, and he was ordered then to serve his maximum sentence which was to end on 11th December 2021.

Shmurda was however lucky as his parole was reviewed by the Department of Corrections and was ultimately granted early release on February 23rd.

The 26-year-old rapper will serve the remainder of his sentence on parole, until 11th December this year.

“At approximately 8:30 this morning, Ackquille Pollard [Bobby Shmurda] was conditionally released from Clinton Correctional Facility. Mr. Pollard will be under community supervision in Kings County until he completes his sentence on February 23, 2026,” New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said in a statement.

After his release from prison, Shmurda was treated to a surprise private jet ride full of strippers by his fellow rapper Quavo.

Ahead of Bobby Shmurda’s much-celebrated release from prison on Tuesday, Quavo informed fans of his plans to “personally” pick up the Shmurda before getting him home to his family.

Speaking with Billboard in an interview released on the eve of Bobby’s conditional release, the Migos member told fans they could expect a “big” welcome home.

“I’m going to get my guy. I’m personally gonna go pick up Bobby Shmurda. I’m ‘bout to go get him. I’m gonna let him show you how I’m gonna pick him up, yessir. It’s gonna be big,” he said.
