Kenyan Holywood celebrity Lupita Nyong’o has come out to respond to Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala that she has been inaccessible.
The holywood actress was reacting to Balala’s previous statement justifying why the Tourism Ministry did not appoint her as Magical Kenya’s international ambassador.
According to CS Balala, his ministry had made several attempts to get in touch with Lupita Nyong’o which were never successful. As a result, they settled on the British supermodel Naomi Campbell as Kenya’s Magical international ambassador, a move that left Kenyans asking why the ministry settled on Campbell.
“I know everybody is asking why not Lupita. Lupita has commitments and her managers cannot allow us to access her. We’ve spent the last five years looking for Lupita,” Mr Balala said.
Balala spoke at Kenyatta University where he was issuing certificates to 60 researchers who conducted a survey on how Covid-19 impacted on travel and tourism industry over the last one year.
“Me when I hear the Kenyan Ministry of Tourism has been looking for me for fives years. #Imrightherebaby #alternativefacts #NikoWakanda.” Lupita wrote on her social media as she shared a photo laughing.

On his side, the Tourism cabinet secretary defended Naomi Campbell’s appointment, noting that she accepted to do in on a voluntary basis due to her love for Kenya.
“We have a framework to work around her and she accepted to do it for free. She offered herself because of her love and commitment to Kenya. We are now working on the details on how do we use her to promote the destination.” He said
